Home for the Holidays

It’s the wee hours of Christmas morning, and my mom’s house is mostly quiet, finally–bellies are full from a big ham dinner, and everyone is tuckered out from the frenzied gift opening that followed.  Oh, and then there was some additional grazing. We worked up an appetite, ya know.  Now, all the shiny new gadgets are tucked away, at least until the morning, and the living room floor is a maze of air mattresses and sleeping bags, like a good old-fashioned slumber party.

Originally, I had a post all planned for this last Sunday, along with the #SundaySupper Home for the Holidays theme.  I was going to tell you all about our traditional Christmas Eve celebration, which usually involves cocktails and appetizers only, mostly so we can get to the gifts sooner.  Things got switched up this year, but hey, I’m flexible, and besides, I could still write about my treasured holiday memories, complete with my mom’s homemade pizza recipe! But, in my rush to get to my mom’s house on Saturday, I left my computer and camera all neatly packed and ready to go, sitting at the foot of my desk. I toyed with ideas on working the post in without the pix and adding them later, but in reality, from that point, this weekend mostly spiraled out of control, as holiday weekends tend to do.

That being said, I couldn’t let this day slip by without taking a moment to let my readers know just how much I appreciate them, and truly I do! Since Webicurean relaunched in July, I’ve received nothing but positive feedback and support from folks from all corners of the world, many of whom I’ve not yet had the pleasure of meeting face to face.  And I’ve enjoyed every moment of sharing my recipes, along with a little history and the family traditions that inspired them. It’s a labor of love, no doubt, but worth every minute.

So thank you. Thank you for being here. I hope the holidays find you well and are filled with the love of family and friends along with lots of great food–these are memories that you will cherish for years to come.

I’ll be back next Sunday with that pizza recipe as well as some of the quirky things that make our holidays special. Or maybe everyone leaves martinis and cookies for Santa? Nah, probably not.
